A Start Has Been Made

Yes action has taken place in the garden – not just pruning of trees and hedges (quite a pile of branches now) but also digging and preparation. The pear tree in the middle has had quite a few branches removed, and the hedge on the left of the garden (mostly holly to about 20 feet high, plus a birch tree) has been pruned, though more needs to be done.

 Yes, plot C is now completely dug over and has cloches in place ready for broad bean planting. Fortunately, it wasn’t too weedy so it was relatively quick. The work was aided by the weather – sunny days with temperatues up as high as 13deg C, but frosty at night – down to -2deg C (mind you today it is back down to 5deg C and cloudy)

Also, I’ve planted over 20 beans in pots in the greenhouse to get them started ( a mixture of ‘The Sutton’ and another – I’ll add in later). I will also plant a row of beans direct into the ground sometime in the ext couple of days.
